Founded in 1934, Verulam Angling Club has grown into one of the UK’s largest angling clubs, with over 2,000 members enjoying access to an outstanding range of fisheries across Hertfordshire and the surrounding counties.
Whether you’re looking for a relaxing day’s fishing, chasing a personal best, competing in matches or introducing the next generation to the sport, Verulam has something for every angler.
Our waters include rivers, lakes, gravel pits, canals and dedicated trout fisheries, offering excellent coarse and fly fishing throughout the year. Selected venues also offer free night fishing for members.
Our thriving match section hosts a full calendar of competitions, including club championships, charity events and the popular summer evening league, welcoming anglers of all abilities.
Every fishery is cared for by a dedicated fishery manager and team of volunteer bailiffs who work hard to maintain high standards. Members are encouraged to support the club by taking part in an annual working party or, where appropriate, assisting with administrative tasks.
We welcome anglers of all ages, with discounted junior memberships, guest access at many venues and facilities including toilets at most stillwaters. Riverside Road also offers an Anglers’ Retreat with hot drinks and modern amenities.
