Write Up by Allan Bayman:

Reading the results of the Facebook Angling match on the 10th it looked like we were in for a good day with 71lb plus needed to win and backing weights into the 30s. Almost as I was thinking, wow we’re not going to be tucked up by the weather, the heavens opened. In a scene like something out of a wildlife documentary, a monsoon like deluge battered the south east and in the morning standing water made driving rather hazardous.

On the day it was clear the heavy rain had killed things and bites were sometimes hard to get. The pegs that produced the day before were the top pegs again.

Most people found that you had to fish long to catch and whilst I was getting plenty of fish they were tiny skimmers with a hand sized one being a good fish.

There were clearly fish grouped around pegs 23 to 32 with the top 5 weights coming from this area but of course you had to get the tactics right to take advantage of the draw and Rich McCorry was a few fish ahead of Dave Snowdon who fished as a guest. Colin Rennison put in a strong performance again to narrowly beat Richard Lear off the next peg by 9 ounces and Andy Trigg on 29 was the 5 weight over 20lb with 23lb 3oz.

Overall a nice day once the rain and winds went but disappointing when many know what the fishery is capable of.
