Now Open

Although we offer year-round fishing on the majority of our still waters, the VAC still runs its annual membership from the traditional coarse fishing season start of June 16th. Existing members who have not signed up to Direct Debit will soon be receiving their invitation to renew for the coming season and we anticipate, as in previous years, to dispatch all new tickets, to those who respond promptly, by around June 9th.  We continue to welcome new and lapsed members and have now reduced our joining fee to just 40 for adult, joint and family membership. The OAP and disabled joining fee is now just 20.

New members can also sign-up at either Verulam Tackle Shop in St Albans or Colney Tackle in Hazeldine Rd, London Colney. For all the details please click the Subscriptions link above. Please be reminded that all able-bodied adult members are expected to undertake at least one work-party before the end of April and failure to do so attracts a work-party levy when renewing membership equal to the prevailing joining fee. This is to ensure that work-party obligations are not avoided by simply rejoining as a new member.

VAC Match Section - New Season ready

The Verulam Match Section remains very popular with turnouts averaging over 20 across the season. We are a friendly bunch and always welcome new faces.

The average standard is increasing each season and as the results from last season show, competition is tight with only a few points separating the top 10.

Why not check out the new fixture list for season 2014/15 and make a point to come along and try your luck. Click here for the list.

Your Contribution

A reminder that the Webmaster welcomes your contributions.

The clear waters of our Lancaster Lake venue are great for fish spotting.

This 8lb tench from Smallford was a great Spring bonus for Mike McSweeny.

The Mill Lake at Bellows Mill is a mixed coarse fishery. Member Jimmy Ryan had this 10lb+ pike take a rudd on the way in and gave a good scrape on the light float tackle.

This young man is Billy Smith, son of bailiff Mark. On a recent trip to Moor Mill Billy landed this tonking 18lb mirror. It's the same fish his dad landed a couple of years ago at just 13lb.
