Best Start Ever?

Just four weeks into the new season (June 16 is also the start of the VAC membership year) and it's looking like many of our venues have been fishing better than ever. Perhaps it's at Riverside where the improvements are most apparent. We've seen a massive investment over the last few seasons in fishery improvements (floating islands, tree reduction, bank repairs) plus many thousands of new fish and in pleasure sessions and club matches excellent catches are being report. Highlight has to be a recent three-hour evening event where 21 anglers weighed in a total of 280lb and 10lb was only good enough for 12th place.

On our river venues some big specimens of most species have been reported. Perhaps the most notable is the 16.02 barbel (above) from the Ivel by new member Steve Brooks. Big perch continue to be reported from Felmersham and our Lea venues are as popular as ever. Particularly noteworthy are a number of beautiful carp from the long walk at Marford and Leasey Bridge like this 10lb sample landed by Barry Arthurs.
Jack is back

The VAC are proud to announce that, following new negotiations with Hadley Wood Piscatorial Society (HAPS), VAC members once again have full access to the day-ticket section of Jack's Lake in Hadley Wood, Cockfosters.

For news on VAC venues we now provide guest access to the fishery reports on our members-only forum.

VAC fisheries manager reaped what he sowed with a good win at Riverside in June - over 39lb of carp

On the same theme, VAC Match committee member Allan Bayman weighed in over 36lb to win on a recent 3hr evening match @ RR

Richard Bateman used old-skool tactics at Smallford on the recent Championship match, combining mini-boilies with sliding float tactics for a mixed bag including roach to over 1.08

Ten Summers ago Brian Lakin landed this wonderful Ghostie at Riverside and she's still there and still nudging double-figures.
