A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year from the VAC Management. Tight Lines in 2011

What a muddy mess

If you are a VAC member you will have good reason to be interested in the work recently undertaken at our new freehold fishery, Bellows Mill. In case you have forgotten, the VAC completed the purchase of this two-lake former trout fishery near Eaton Bray back in June 2010. Click on the Archive button above to check out our June edition.

Since then the club has made a further major investment in re-working the two waters to ensure they are suitable to provide good and safe sport for many years to come

Based on expert advice we have reworked the lakes by draining, dredging and reforming such that Ford lake will once again be a compelling trout venue and Mill lake will have around 20+ comfortable pegs suitable for mixed coarse fishing.

What wasn't expected, once the lakes were drained, was just how 'soft' the lake beds were and the initial Plan A rapidly became Plan Z as various solutions were incorporated to provide 'peninsula's for trout fishing and islands on the Mill lake.

Of course, it will be months before the venue will re-open. Be sure you have signed up for and are receiving e-news to keep up to date with developments

Riverside Christmas Match Postponed

Perhaps no surprise that after two weeks of sub zero temps Riverside is totally frozen and, under the ice, the water is as clear as tap water.

With no sign of a thaw by Sunday 12th December the Match Committee have agreed to postpone the popular Christmas match until early January. However, the Christmas draw will continue as planned and results will be circulated by e-news soon after.

Fishers Green Consortium

As the largest club in the newly formed Fishers Green Consortium we are delighted to welcome new members who are particularly keen to fish the former CEMEX fishery.

We appreciate you have a choice of 11 clubs so we hope you will recognise the great value the VAC offers with eight rivers venues, six still water complexes and access to eight other consortiums in addition to Fishers Green.

Membership crashes through the 2,000 mark

A big welcome to David Sharp of Enfield who became the VAC's 2,000 member when he signed up in November. At the time of writing membership is at 2,049 and still growing.

Still time to join on our half-price deal. For more information click the Subscriptions button at the top.

Remember, that unless your email address is registered on Club DB, our membership database, we can't keep you up to date via e-news nor can we accept your application to join the VAC Forum. To check and update your details see the Subscriptions page

Picture Perfect?

Club DB, our excellent member database, is now serving us well with members able to log in and update their details at any time.

However, a small number of members have not yet sent in or uploaded a passport style picture which we MUST HAVE to print up your next membership card. We believe we have now resolved some the technical difficulties but for those who cannot upload a suitable picture please find time to either email your photo (quoting ID number) or pop a picture in the post to the Registrar. More details on the Subscriptions page.
