River's on fire

Every season we are fortunate to learn of some amazing catches by our members from VAC waters and beyond. Whether these catches were the result of many hours of intense pursuit or came by stroke of luck, it's always a pleasure to share another angler's joy. For many, even better when these catches are from natural rivers. So here are three such reports; Enjoy!

At the start of the season, member Steve Current had a red letter day on one of our river venues landing 92 - yes, ninety two - chub, most over 3lb to a best of 5lb plus three barbel, two over 8lb. That's certainly a great stick-float day. His catch even warranted a half-page report in the Angling Times. Click on Steve to read what they said.

But for quality rather than quantity it's hard to beat Andrew Poole's recent catch of three barbel for over 45lb. Click on the pic of the 16.07 beauty below to read Andrew's great report on how he came to bank three whacker whisker's.

Our third river success to report is a magnificent 9.07 bream for Aaron Bosworth. Now we all know that the carp lads catch big bream accidently but Aaron's fish came from Felmersham, our wonderful Great Ouse water above Bedford. See pic right.

As well as signing up on-line (see our Subscriptions page) you can now join 'over the counter' at the Verulam Angling Centre and pay cash, cheque or credit card.

In addition to the usual choices of adult, junior, partner, and family memberships we provide concessionary rates for over 65's and the disabled. Plus under 12's can fish for FREE when accompanied by a member.

Our membership process is based on an online secure database so we do encourage you to complete all your details via our Member Services link and then print-out and post your application with your payment. That way there's less risk of error with key details such as postal and email addresses. We also invite you to upload your passport-style photo which saves you having to print out your picture or use one of those booths.

Payment can be made via cheque or Postal Order and we also invite you to complete a Direct Debit form to make renews easier for future seasons. Currently we can only accept payment via credit card for over the counter sales. Payment via on-line banking will be introduced later this year.

Remember, that unless your email address is registered on Club DB, our membership database, we can't keep you up to date via e-news nor can we accept your application to join the VAC Forum. To check and update your details see the Subscriptions page

This is Andrew Poole's 15.05 barbel. Many of us never get to see a fish of this size let alone catch one.

This is the 'tiddler' of Andrew's trio at 'just' 14.10.

Not all river fish this month. This 3.08 crucian or possibly crucian hybrid was landed from Riverside by Tony Bullen.

As mentioned, this is Aaron Bosworth with his 9.07 Ouse bream. Does anyone heard of a bigger bream from any of our river venues?
